Over the last year I’ve been trying to hone my writing skills to a point where I think what I produce is good enough to be submitted anywhere. In the meantime I have done a number of things to make me keep writing. A blog a day (which came from a challenge with a friend) has meant I’ve at least written something that is (close to) fit for human consumption each day. More recently I’ve started a short story every Friday (inspired by news that week) which is making me write better first time (hopefully) while at the same time giving me a deadline to write to.

I also got to a point where I wasn’t reading a great deal and while this didn’t seem to be reducing my creative flow it was annoying. I’ve now solved this by putting one night each week aside for two hours of reading. Because of this I’ve now finished two books and started looking forward to Wednesday nights more than ever before.

Well done on the acceptance and keep writing and sending stuff off.
